Dr. Aymeric Jouon
Hydro-Cote, the expertise of an ocean enthusiast
Hydro-Cote is the sole proprietorship founded by Aymeric Jouon, a trained oceanographer and entrepreneur by conviction. Driven by a long-standing passion for the ocean –"If I hadn't been a researcher, I would have been a fisherman!"– he combines scientific rigor, practical sense, and initiative.
With an international background and being bilingual in English, Aymeric develops a results-oriented approach, at the intersection of applied research, technological innovation, and project management.
By decree of 15 May 2025, Aymeric Jouon was appointed knight of the national order of Merit by the President of the Republic, on behalf of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, Forests, the Sea, and Fisheries.
This distinction recognises an exemplary professional career and a remarkable commitment to the service of the environment and the ocean.
Oceanography Expert
Aymeric Jouon began his scientific career with a PhD in physical oceanography at the Research Institute for Development (IRD) registered at the University of Toulon, specialising in coastal hydrodynamic processes.
He then continued his research work at Griffith University (Australia), Bordeaux 1 University, and IFREMER, actively contributing to international scientific production.
His publications in A-ranked journals have been cited over 780 times, attesting to the relevance and impact of his research, which is always focused on concrete issues related to the management and understanding of coastal environments.

From science to action: an entrepreneurial journey serving complex projects
Following his doctorate, Aymeric Jouon chose the path of independence by launching Hydro-Cote NC from New Caledonia, with the ambition of applying hydrodynamic modelling and his research results to the island territories of the Pacific.
These early years as a freelancer constitute a true laboratory for entrepreneurial experimentation. They pave the way for a ramp-up towards the management of high value-added projects, carried out within large organisations.
Building on this dual experience – technical and strategic – Aymeric founded in 2020Hydro-Cotein mainland France. There, he structured a comprehensive offering, at the intersection of science, technology, and project management. In the same vein, he also createdI Clean My Sea SAS, an impact startup dedicated to combating marine pollution.
